This week, Becca, Donny and Natalie reviewed the 4 basic components of habitat (food, water, shelter, and space) and how animals use these ‘tools’ or habits to help them meet those needs. These habits are called behavioral adaptations. With over 187 different kinds of nests found in New Hampshire, they chose to spotlight 3 different birds and focus on their beak adaptations. The 3 birds were loon, chickadee and barred owl. The SCA teachers took the students outside to complete some fun activities related to each of these 3 birds.
