Here are some important websites for students & parents to visit ......

*Students will have all usernames and passwords put into their agenda book in the beginning of the year (or email me and I can send them to you!).  AR logins may take until October.

School Sites


PTA Website - Great  website for parents to use to keep updated with the PTA events.

HMS Computer Lab -  Lots of great sides for grades 3, 4, and 5.


Reading Sites

Keys to Literacy - Blog - Great website for parents to use for research on reading and the importance of reading.

SRA Imagine It!  - This site goes with our reading series.  Students can find skills that go with the story we are reading each week.  They just need to find the correct unit and lesson of study so that they can read the story, practice the skills, etc.

AR Tests - Students can start taking their AR tests in October.  Students can take tests both at school and at home.  At the beginning of each month, I will pull a report to see how many books each student read, how many books student's passed, how many points students earned, etc.


MAP Reading Games -   This website has many games that challenge children at the level that they scored on the NWEA MAP testing for reading.

Prepdog -  This website allows students to practice reading and math questions for NWEA.

Math Sites

Math Playground  -  Action packed math site for elementary and middle school students featuring math games, math word problems, math worksheets, logic puzzles, etc.

Sumdog Website - "Parents need to know that Sumdog is a way for kids to practice math skills while playing fun, math-related games against friends, classmates, or students from around the world.  Games are individualized for each kid's ability level, so users can play against opponents who have the same skills.  It's free, but a subscription to Sumdog Premium provides more games and more detailed feedback." XtraMathToday, we went to the computer lab so that I could introduce the students to the XtraMath website.  Students can use this web-based program to increase speed and accuracy in math facts (addition, subtraction, & multiplication).  Students can spend a few minutes each day practicing math on the computer.  

Bar Modeling - Students can go onto MathPlayground and use bar models to solve problems.

NWEA Practice (Kahn Academy) Math This website has many games that challenge children at the level that they scored on the NWEA MAP testing for math.

Brain Pop - Animated Science, Health, Technology, Math, Social Studies, Arts & Music and English movies, quizzes, activity pages and school homework help for K-12 kids,
