For the past two years, third graders at HMS participated in "SCA" which allowed members from this organization to come in and teach lessons to each of the third grade classrooms, for one hour a week, for nine weeks.
The SCA has been doing this program in Manchester and Allenstown with fourth and fifth graders for many years. Last year was the second year for Hooksett and both years have been fantastic. We are lucky to get new members to come back and run a similar program for our third graders this year!
Lesson topics included: soils, trees, insulation, rock cycle, animals (habitats, tracking), recycling, water cycle, and so much more!
Lessons will begin in the beginning of February and end in April. The exact dates/times are not quite sorted out, but we will be participating and we are planning a field trip to Bear Brook State Park as a culminating event in May.
Our class will have SCA on Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 am. Please be sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing because we tend to go outside for many SCA lessons.
