Book Buddies - 100 Days

On Monday, we met with Mrs. Rehm's class for book buddies to celebrate the 100th day of school (actually on Wednesday due to the snow day).  We challenged the students to come up with 100 words that could be made from the words Valentines Day.  We decided to show the students that it could be done.

Spirit Week

The SCA are coming!

The Hooksett Memorial 3rd grade students have been lucky to have the SCA (Student Conservation Association) return for a ten week program.  We have 3 members (Donnie, Natalie and Becca) who will be coming into our classroom on Wednesday mornings from 10:15 to 11:15.  While in the classroom, these 3 members will be providing lessons based on the NH State Science Curriculum.  The letter below will come home in your child's mailbox tomorrow.  I can't wait!

Happy Groundhog's Day

      Punxsutawney Phil

With today being Groundhog's Day, students came into the classroom discussing whether Phil had seen his shadow or not and what that meant for Spring.  So, I looked up a video for the students to watch to see if indeed Phil had seen his shadow or not.  Click on the link above to watch the video we watched.  We found out that Spring is coming soon!

SOHO satellite

Today, I introduced the new unit in reading, "Sun, Moon & Earth".  While discussing the new vocabulary for our first story, "Sun", we read a selection about the SOHO satellite.  The students started asking me questions about the satellite and whether it was real.  So, I found a website with some videos about the SOHO satellite.  I told the students I would put the website on the blog in case they were interested in watching more videos.

Here is the website:
