This week, the SCA members came in to teach about Watersheds. Students completed several activities about condensation, precipitation, run off and evaporation. One activity required students to run from one station to another and use hand motions to demonstrate each of these steps. Another activity, students had to create mountains using tin foil. Then Donny poured water on it to show students where the run off would go. Then he poured dye into it to show that even though pollution happens in one spot, the pollution travels to other areas. We had another wonderful time with great weather!!

Small Toy Please
Due to SBAC testings, we will not be able to go to the computer lab during our regular scheduled computer class time. Therefore, Mrs. Beaudoin has created a great activity with an stop motion app on the iPads. Mrs. Beaudoin will poster of the setting of the story with the tree and kite on it. Then one by one, they will recreate the story, using the app to make a video of the process. At this points, students will be able to use their small object to put into their video too.

SCA - Week 6 - Beak Week
This week, Becca, Donny and Natalie reviewed the 4 basic components of habitat (food, water, shelter, and space) and how animals use these ‘tools’ or habits to help them meet those needs. These habits are called behavioral adaptations. With over 187 different kinds of nests found in New Hampshire, they chose to spotlight 3 different birds and focus on their beak adaptations. The 3 birds were loon, chickadee and barred owl. The SCA teachers took the students outside to complete some fun activities related to each of these 3 birds.
Top Down Web - Unit 4 Reading
On Monday, students created a top down web on the Unit 4 reading topic of "Earth, Our Place in Space". Students broke this topic down to the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Then students listed facts about each one of these topics. They did a wonderful job working together in groups.
